July 2003 Exhibit:
Chad Stangl Sculptures

July's exhibit showcases the sculpture of Chad Stangl, recent MSSC graduate who is continuing his art education at the University of Illinois--Urbana.  "Think cellular.  Think riboflavin," he says in his artist's statement.  His large creations, carefully crafted with wood, metal, ceramics, netting, wire, and rope, are minimalist with an organic and sometimes humorous twist.  In his work, Stangl examines empty spaces, plays with them and transforms them, concluding that "information has infinite potential."
