September 2004: Oil paintings by Mary Modaress

A native of Iran, the artist has been in the United States for 35 years, living in Pittsburg, Kansas for the last 25 years.  Although her impressionist-style paintings of American scenes and ancient Persian architecture reflect a poetic quality, they are strongly anchored in the real world.
