The Post Library celebrates the arrival of summer with vibrant travel-themed images painted by Lamar artist and teacher Annabelle Seelye Fuhr. While most people take photographs to remember their trips, Fuhr prefers to "capture the essence of the moment" by painting her memories. Sometimes she sketches first; other times she records the impressions in her mind as she streaks down the highway on her motorcycle. She and her husband have traveled to such places as Australia, Puerto Rico, Canada, the Desert Southwest, and to the mountains of Colorado.
Fuhr graduated from Missouri Southern State University in 1990 with a B.A. in Fine Art. She has been quite active in the art world, through teaching art lessons, competing, publishing, commissions, and memberships in art organizations. She is a founding member of the Arts Council of Barton County, having served on its board of directors and as gallery director.
In 2009, Fuhr opened Annabelle's Sky View Studio at 105 W. 11th Street in Lamar MO. It is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment. Phone: 417-682-3040. The operation is a working studio, where patrons can purchase unique gift items and visit with her as she works on her paintings, sculpture, and jewelry.
