August 2007 Exhibit:

Portraits of M. Justin Hale

by Jesse McCormick

Carthage native Jesse McCormick spent much of his life in California working in the field of engineering.  Meanwhile, he enjoyed his true passions--music, writing, and art.

Now that he is retired in Carterville, Mo., he pursues his art profession full-time.  Many of his works have won awards in art competitions.

In his paintings and drawings of the human form, Jesse experiments with how to represent emotions and interactions.  This exhibit features a series of portraits depicting his friend, M. Justin Hale, a local sculptor.

Both artist and model take risks when they encounter each other in the art studio.  It is interesting to observe the results of that interchange in McCormick's honest depictions of his friend.
