These paintings express the artist's energetic style--bold, bright, and impressionistic.  Courtney uses palette knives to achieve highly textured strokes, creating an almost sculptural effect.

Recent awards for Courtney's paintings include The Director's Award and The Hometown Bank Award - Midwest Gathering of the Artists 2004. The Carthage Chamber of Commerce "Artist of the Year" award for 2003 and The Helen S. Boyland award - Midwest Gathering of the Artists 2002.

A Joplin native, Courtney graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting.

She is the editorial graphic artist for The Joplin Globe, where she has worked for 23 years.  She is also webmaster for Spiva Center for the Arts (http://www.spivaarts.org), Arts of the Four States (http://www.4statearts.com) & Ozark Artists Colony (http://www.ozarkartistscolony.com).
 

   Autumn Trees

In addition to her oil painting and graphic design, the artist creates whimsical art and characters called "The Buzzlewics" & "The Zoppyzeeps."
